Huntingdon’s Mathers recognized as USA South Golfer of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon's Drew Mathers was named the USA South Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.

Mathers was recognized for his performance in winning the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.

The sophomore shot a 2-under-par 142 to win his first collegiate tournament. Mathers tied his best collegiate round with a 2-under 70 in the opening round and closed the tournament with an even-par 72.

He is the third Hawk to win the Wynlakes Intercollegiate during the past three seasons. Stephen Shephard won in 2016 and Addison Lambeth won in 2017.

Mathers is the fourth Hawk to earn medalist honors since the start of the fall season and the first Huntingdon medalist of the spring.
