Huntingdon places 3rd in USA South Tournament
LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's golf team closed the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament with a 16-over-par 304 in the final round on Saturday.
The Hawks finished four strokes out of first and in third with a three-round total of 896. North Carolina Wesleyan won the conference championship with an 892. Methodist placed second with an 894.
North Carolina Wesleyan's Grady Anderson earned medalist honors with a 2-under 214 in three rounds.
Huntingdon junior Stephen Shephard finished five strokes behind Anderson in fourth place with a 3-over 219. Shephard shot an even-par 72 in each of the first two rounds and shot a 3-over 75 on Saturday.
Sophomore Drew Mathers shot a 4-over 76 in the final round and tied for eighth with a 7-over 223 for the tournament. Junior Mark Connelly shot a 3-over 75 on Saturday and tied for 18th with an 11-over 227.
Senior Jon Colten Stanaland tied for 20th with a 12-over 228 and junior Henry Gee was 24th with a 14-over 230.
