Shephard named USA South Golfer of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon senior Stephen Shephard was recognized with the release of the USA South Golfers of the Week on Thursday.

Shephard was named the Golfer of the Week for his performance in the Jekyll Island Invitational on March 15-17. Shephard won medalist honors with a 12-under-par 204 in the three-round event. He shot a 3-under 69 in the first and second round and a 6-under 66 in the final round.

The win was Shephard's first of the season and the third of his collegiate career. The 66 in the final round matched Shephard's best round as a Hawk and was two strokes off the Hawks' NCAA-era single-round record of 64. Shephard's three-round 204 set Huntingdon's NCAA-era record for 54 holes.

Through 19 rounds this season, Shephard is averaging 71.53 strokes per round and is ranked fourth in Division III.
