Schreyer among finalists for Dave Williams Award

NORMAN, Okla. – Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer is one of five finalists for Division III Coach of the Year.

The finalists for the Dave Williams Award were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Tuesday.

Joining Schreyer as finalists are Wittenberg's Michael Leotta, Illinois Wesleyan's Jim Ott, Southwestern's Greg Sigler and Emory's John Sjoberg.

Schreyer, the 2017 Williams Award National Coach of the Year, was named Region Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2017. In April, he was named USA South Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the third time in the past four seasons.

Under his guidance, the second-ranked Hawks won their first USA South Conference Tournament this season. Huntingdon set a NCAA-era program record with a 23-under-par 841 to win the conference tournament by 26 strokes.

Huntingdon has won five tournaments this season. The Hawks have won four of their last five tournaments and have finished first or second in seven straight events. Entering this week's NCAA Tournament, the Hawks are averaging 287.78 per round, almost three strokes better than the program's NCAA-era record of 290.44.
