Huntingdon men’s lacrosse closes out first season with a win

ATLANTA – Brandon Sewell, Garrison Johnson and Michael Brunick combined for 12 goals as the Huntingdon men's lacrosse team closed out the season with a 14-10 win against Oglethorpe on Wednesday.

The first-year Hawks snapped an eight-game losing streak with the win and finished the season with a 5-10 record.

Huntingdon trailed Oglethorpe 6-5 at the half but scored four straight goals in the third period to take the lead. Sewell finished the game with five goals, two assists and eight ground balls and ended the first season with a team-high 28 goals and 14 assists.

Johnson, one of two seniors on the team, added four goals on Wednesday and Brunick had three goals and an assist. Ryan Rees and Steven Gernatt scored the Hawks' remaining two goals. Rees also had three assists and seven ground balls. Gavin Carey had one assist, Tyler Campbell had seven ground balls and senior Alex Taylor recorded a team-high nine ground balls.

Goalie Spencer Nix recorded 11 saves.
