Huntingdon men’s lacrosse knocks off Rhodes for second straight win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team scored eight goals in the second half to rally for a 12-8 win over Rhodes on Sunday.

The Hawks (2-1) outscored Rhodes 8-2 in the second half to pick up their second road win in three days.

Gavin Carey, Jakob Works and Mike Kazmarik each scored three goals to lead Huntingdon (2-1). Works had three assists and Carey and Kazmarik each had one.

Brandon Sewell scored two goals, recorded one assist and picked up seven ground balls. He also won 12-of-23 faceoffs. Tyler Campbell scored one goal and Karson Hastings had an assist.

Goalie Fabien Gutierrez recorded 14 saves.

Works scored three of the Hawks' final six goals and had assists on two others. His second goal, with 8:17 left in the third quarter, put Huntingdon ahead 8-7. Twelve seconds later, Carey scored on an assist from Works to make it 9-7.

The Hawks scored three more times in the final seven minutes of the game on goals from Works, Sewell and Kazmarik to seal the win.

The Hawks play Young Harris in Atlanta on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
