Huntingdon’s Works scores six goals in loss to Berry

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team rallied in the second half but came up short 10-7 against Berry College on Saturday.

The Hawks fell behind 7-2 in the first half and trailed 8-4 at halftime. Huntingdon cut the score to 9-7 in the final 10 minutes but couldn't complete the comeback.

Despite the loss, the game was another sign of improvement for the second-year Hawks (5-5). Berry beat Huntingdon 17-2 last season.

"It was a big improvement from last year, but we expected more from ourselves today," Huntingdon head coach Andrew Carey said. "We came out flat early in the game. That has been a problem in a few games this season and it's something we have to overcome. We're going to keep working and continue to improve."

Jakob Works led Huntingdon with six goals and Taylor Day scored once. Karson Hastings had two assists and Gavin Carey added one assist. Brandon Sewell won 14-of-21 faceoffs and recorded 11 ground balls. Davis Dalton and Tyler Campbell each caused two turnovers.

Goalie Fabien Gutierrez recorded 16 saves.

Huntingdon travels to Alma on March 25.
