Huntingdon men’s lacrosse scores twice in final minute to beat La Roche

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Mike Kasmarik scored two goals in the final minute to help the Huntingdon men's lacrosse team get by La Roche College 11-10 on Thursday.

Kasmarik scored on an assist from Brandon Sewell with 54 seconds left to tie the game and put the Hawks ahead on an assist from Jakob Works with 16 seconds remaining.

A close and physical game from the start, Huntingdon (3-3) led 7-5 at the half, but was tied or trailed La Roche (0-2) for most of the second half. Kasmarik's final goal gave Huntingdon its first lead since early in the third period.

Works and LaDarius Williams each scored four goals for Huntingdon. Works also had the final assist, seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. Sewell finished with one goal, two assists and 15 ground balls. Brandon Scheele had seven ground balls and won 16-of-22 faceoffs.

Goalie Fabien Gutierrez played all 60 minutes and finished with nine saves.

Huntingdon returns to Samford Stadium on Monday to play Transylvania at 4 p.m.
