Huntingdon men’s lacrosse pushes winning streak to four games

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team scored eight goals in the second half to pull away from Hendrix College and pick up a 10-3 victory on Saturday.

Leading 2-1 early in the second half, the Hawks (5-3) scored four goals in the third period and four in the fourth to take control.

The win is the fourth straight for Huntingdon, marking the longest winning streak in the history of the third-year program. The three goals allowed on Saturday are the second fewest in program history. Huntingdon held Alma to one goal in a win last season.

Sophomore Jakob Works led the Hawks with five goals and two assists against Hendrix (4-4), giving him a team-high 25 goals and nine assists this season. Mike Kasmarik added three goals to give him 23 goals this season.

Brandon Sewell and Caleb Dixon scored Huntingdon's remaining two goals. Sewell also had five ground balls. Patrick Messenger had one assist and Brandon Scheele had an assist, seven ground balls and won 11-of-18 faceoffs. Ryan Steele caused two turnovers.

Goalie Fabien Gutierrez finished with nine saves and four ground balls.

Huntingdon returns to action on Friday against Benedictine in Nashville, Tenn.
