Men’s lacrosse scores program-record 21 goals against Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team scored the first 16 goals of the game and cruised to a 21-2 win over Centenary on Monday night.

Huntingdon built a 10-0 lead in the first period and led 15-0 at the half on its way to setting a program record for goals in a game. The 15 goals in the first half were one short of the Hawks' previous record for goals in a game.

The two goals allowed are the second fewest allowed in the three-year history of the program.

Nine different players scored for the Hawks (7-4). Jakob Works, Mike Kasmarik, Brandon Sewell and LaDarius Williams combined for 16 goals.

Works recorded five goals, an assist and three ground balls, Kasmarik had five goals, Sewell added three goals, four assists and six ground balls and Williams finished with three goals.

Tyler Campbell and Brandon Scheele both had one goal and one assist. Scheele also had three ground balls and won 12-of-18 faceoffs. Jackson Schrampfer, Colton Edwards and D.J. Horner each scored once.

Ryan Huguenel had four ground balls, Jimbo Turk had three ground balls and won 3-of-5 faceoffs and Mike Huckle and Dawson Jones both had three ground balls.

Starting goalie Fabien Gutierrez played the first six minutes of the game before DeanQuez McKinstry and Sean O'Hara finished the game. McKinstry finished with 10 saves and one goal allowed and O'Hara had four saves and one goal allowed.

Huntingdon plays at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
