Men’s lacrosse to host YMCA clinic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team, in conjunction with the Montgomery YMCA, will be hosting an introductory lacrosse clinic on Dec. 6. The YMCA Lacrosse Experience will bring a new experience to youth athletics in the Montgomery Area.

"I'm excited to have Huntingdon College and the YMCA pair together and bring the game of lacrosse to Montgomery," Huntingdon head coach Andrew Carey said. "This was the same path that the Eastern Shore of Maryland (Carey's hometown) used in growing lacrosse. The local coach and university used this way to grow the game and shed a positive light on the university with service by players and coaches.

"This session will give our lacrosse players and coaches the opportunity to give back to the community and help introduce the game to youth who are interested in lacrosse."

The one-day clinic will go over the basic skills and rules of the game and will be coached by Carey and members of the Huntingdon lacrosse team.

The clinic is open to boys and girls, grades 2-12, and is limited to the first 60 participants who sign up. It will be held at the Emory Folmar Soccer Complex and will cost $20 to participate. More information can be found at www.ymcamontgomery.org and coach Carey can be reached for further details at acarey@hawks.huntingdon.edu.
