Hawks fall behind early in loss to Goucher

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team opened its home schedule with a 15-4 loss to Goucher College on Sunday.

Freshman Kendrick Ballard scored two goals for the Hawks (1-2) and Davis Dalton and LaDarius Williams both added one goal. Brandon Scheele had one assist and was 2-for-5 on faceoffs and Brandon Sewell recorded seven groundballs and won 8-of-15 faceoffs.

Goucher (2-0) led 3-0 entering the second quarter and built an eight-goal lead before halftime. Ballard scored twice in the second quarter to make it 9-2 at the half.

Fabien Gutierrez started the game in goal for Huntingdon and recorded eight saves and allowed nine goals in the first half. Kristian Smith had one save and allowed six goals in the second half.

"We were out-played and out-hustled by a very good team," Huntingdon head coach Andrew Carey said. "We have to get back to the drawing board and start preparing for Hendrix."

Huntingdon travels to Hendrix College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. game.
