Hawks can’t hold off Benedictine in second half

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team built a four-goal lead early in the second half on Monday, but Benedictine rallied for a 10-8 win.

The Hawks (2-8) outscored Benedictine 5-0 in the second quarter and went ahead 7-3 less than three minutes into the second half. Benedictine (3-2) answered with seven straight goals and took a 10-7 lead with 3:31 to play in the game.

Brandon Sewell and Davis Dalton led Huntingdon with two goals apiece. Sewell also had an assist and eight ground balls. LaDarius Williams had a goal, an assist and six ground balls. Patrick Rowe, Brandon Scheele and Kendrick Ballard each scored one goal.

Goalie Fabien Gutierrez started the game and recorded one save and three goals allowed in 30 minutes. Kristian Smith had seven saves and seven goals allowed in the second half.

Huntingdon returns to action on Sunday against Augustana at Transylvania University.
