Men’s lacrosse loses to Augustana

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team led in the first half but lost to Augustana 8-2 on Sunday in a game played at Transylvania University.

Jakob Works scored in the final two minutes of the first period and Brandon Sewell scored in the first three minutes of the second period to give the Hawks (2-9) a 2-1 lead. Augustana (7-2) built a 3-2 lead at halftime and put the game away with five goals in the fourth period.

Glen Troxell had four ground balls and two caused turnovers and Brandon Scheele won 5-of-9 faceoffs.

Starting goalie Fabien Gutierrez had four saves and three goals allowed in the first half. Kristian Smith had 12 saves and five goals allowed in the second half.

Huntingdon plays at Wesley College on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
