Huntingdon battles Wesley College but comes up short

DOVER, Del. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team battled back from a five-goal deficit in the fourth period but could not complete the comeback in a 10-8 loss to Wesley College on Wednesday night.

Trailing 10-5 in the final nine minutes, the Hawks (2-10) scored three goals in a little more than seven minutes to make it a two-goal game with 1:07 to play. LaDarius Williams scored two goals during the final stretch and Jakob Works added the final goal on an assist from Karson Hastings.

Williams and Works each finished the game with three goals. Kendrick Ballard scored the Hawks' other two goals. Brandon Sewell had one assist and four ground balls. Matt Bowes recorded five ground balls and Glen Troxell had three caused turnovers.

Goalie Fabien Gutierrez had five saves and six goals allowed in the first half and Kristian Smith had five saves and four goals allowed in the second half.

Huntingdon plays at Greensboro on Saturday at noon.
