Hawks score program-record 25 goals in win over Centenary

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team set a new single-game program record for goals scored in Sunday's 25-5 win over Centenary College.

Huntingdon's previous record for goals in a game was 21, set last season at Centenary.

The Hawks (3-11) scored 32 seconds into the game, led 8-1 after one period and 16-1 at halftime. Following a goal by Centenary (1-7) with 8:49 left in the first quarter, the Hawks closed the first half with 11 straight goals.

A total of 15 players scored at least one goal in the win and three players had four points for Huntingdon. Jakob Works had four goals, Brandon Sewell had three goals and one assist and Colton Edwards had two goals and two assists.

Patrick Rowe scored two goals and made one assist and LaDarius Williams, D.J. Horner and Andrew Gallagher each scored twice. Karson Hastings scored one goal and had two assists.

Jimbo Turk and Caleb Dailey both had one goal and one assist. The goal and assist were the first of Turk's collegiate career. Tyler Campbell, Alex Cook, Colton Twiggs and Kendrick Ballard each had one goal.

Brandon Scheele finished with one goal, was 26-of-32 on faceoffs and picked up 16 ground balls. Scheele finished just short of two Huntingdon records. Sewell holds the Hawks' records for ground balls in a game with 17 and faceoffs won in a game with 27.

Tyler Cross had four caused turnovers.

Freshman Fuller Parker made his first career start at goalie and finished with 11 saves and allowed five goals in 60 minutes.

The Hawks return to action at Methodist University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
