Hawks pick up third win in four games

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team defeated Piedmont College 8-4 on Saturday. Huntingdon honored six seniors before the game. Three seniors, Tyler Campbell, Tyler Cross and Brandon Sewell have been with the program since its inception.

Junior Jakob Works scored the first goal for the Hawks (5-12) 1:13 into the game. Works, Davis Dalton and LaDarius Williams added three more goals before Piedmont (4-11) scored its first goal.

Goalie Fabian Gutierrez started the game for the Hawks and finished with three saves and two goals allowed in the first half.

The Lions scored the first goal of the second quarter while Works scored his third goal of the game to take a 5-2 score into halftime.

Works scored his final goal early in the third quarter before Piedmont scored to come back within three.

Patrick Rowe scored on an assist from Karson Hastings to pull ahead by four. Sewell scored to ice the game with 4:41 remaining. Sewell went 10-for-14 on faceoffs.

Goalie Kristian Smith played the second half and made seven saves and allowed two goals.

Works scored four goals and recorded three ground balls. Williams had one goal and one assist. Dalton, Sewell and Rowe scored once. Colton Edwards and Hastings each had one assist.
