Sewell, Works and Troxell named to All-SEILC team

DEMOREST, Ga. – Three Huntingdon players were named to the All-Southeast Independent Lacrosse Championship team on Thursday.
Senior midfielder Brandon Sewell, junior attacker Jakob Works and freshman defender Glen Troxell were named to the inaugural team. The SEILC is comprised of the five USA South Athletic Conference members (Huntingdon College, Ferrum College, Greensboro College, Methodist University and Piedmont College) who play men's lacrosse.
Sewell leads Huntingdon with 39 points this season (29 goals and 10 assists), 91 ground balls and 104 faceoffs won. He set a program record with six assists against the University of Dallas this season.
Works, who missed the first 10 games of the season with an injury, is third on Huntingdon with 29 points (24 goals and five assists). Works is averaging 3.4 goals a game since his return this season.
Troxell leads the Hawks with 23 caused turnovers in 17 games this season and is third on the team with 35 ground balls. Troxell has caused multiple turnovers in seven games this season.
Greensboro midfielder Blaine Wise was named Offensive Player of the Year, Ferrum goalie John Michael Smith was named Defensive Player of the Year and Greensboro coach Mike Foderaro was chosen as the Coach of the Year.
Huntingdon, Ferrum, Piedmont and Greensboro will compete in the first SEILC Tournament this weekend at Piedmont. Third-seeded Huntingdon (5-12, 2-2 SEILC) will play No. 2 seed Greensboro (6-8, 3-1 SEILC) in the semifinals at 3 p.m. (Central) on Friday. Top-seeded Ferrum (7-9, 3-1 SEILC) will play fourth-seeded Piedmont (4-11, 1-3 SEILC) in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Friday.
The winners advance to the championship game on Sunday at noon.
