Men’s lacrosse falls at home to Birmingham-Southern

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team fell to Birmingham-Southern 9-3 on Wednesday.

Sophomore Kendrick Ballard scored the game's first goal with 9:04 left in the first. The Panthers answered back seven seconds later to tie the game 1-1.

Davis Dalton gave Huntingdon a 2-1 lead early in the second quarter before a man-up goal by Birmingham-Southern tied the game 2-2 heading into halftime.

Both teams held strong on defense through most of the third quarter before the Panthers netted three goals in 2:25 to take a 5-2 lead with 3:55 remaining.

Dalton added his second goal with 1:11 left in the third, to pull within two heading into the final quarter.

The Panthers scored four fourth quarters to take the win 9-3.

Senior goalie Fabien Gutierrez recorded nine saves and allowed nine goals.

Defenseman Josh Clayton recorded six ground balls while Chad Ronk had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Dalton finished with two goals and two caused turnovers. Sam Hitt finished 6-for-14 from the faceoff x.

Huntingdon travels to play Rhodes on Saturday at 1 p.m.
