MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team lost 15-10 to Southwestern on Monday night.

Leading 6-5 at halftime, the Hawks were outscored 10-4 in the second-half as the Pirates improved to 6-5 on the season. Huntingdon drops to 5-5 for the year.

Southwestern scored the game's first goal in just over four minutes of play to take an early lead over Huntingdon. The Hawks answered back as Kendrick Ballard and Austen Saucier scored a pair of goals to put Huntingdon in front 2-1.

With 2:40 remaining in the opening quarter, Southwestern evened the score but Miles Stading scored with 23 seconds left to give the Hawks the advantage.

Huntingdon opened the second quarter with an illegal stick penalty, setting Southwestern up for the game tying goal in the first nine seconds of play. The Pirates scored two more goals and took a 3-5 lead with 7:46 left in the half.

The Hawks answered back with three goals in the final 5:18 of play to take a 6-5 lead into halftime.

Stading scored three first-half goals and finished the game with four total goals.

The Pirates opened the second-half with three goals in the first 44 seconds to take an 8-6 lead. Both teams traded a pair of goals in the final 12:56 of the third quarter, and the Pirates led 10-8 going into the final quarter.

After going the first 1:59 of the fourth with no scoring, Southwestern scored four goals and led 14-8 with 4:20 remaining. Mac Puller and Saucier each found the back of the net to pull within four with just under three minutes left, but the deficit was too much.  

Puller finished with three goals and one assist. Saucier scored twice and had one assist while Ballard had one goal.

Sam Hitt won 19-of-30 faceoffs.

Zach Barnhill, Caleb Bohrer and Jackson Schrampfer wach had one assist.  

Huntingdon travels to Birmingham Southern on Thursday for a 7 p.m. showdown.
