FERRUM, Va. – Austen Saucier and Kendrick Ballard each scored four goals to lead the Huntingdon men's lacrosse team to a 9-8 win over Ferrum College in Monday's Southeast Independent Lacrosse Championship game.

The Hawks (8-6, 1-0 SEILC) pushed their win streak to three games and took down the Panthers (4-7, 1-1 SEILC) for the first time in program history. Ferrum has taken the last two meetings in overtime.

Huntingdon outscored Ferrum 3-1 in the third quarter to pull ahead 7-5. Saucier scored the quarter's first and last goal while Ballard added one goal.

Ferrum pulled within one score midway through the fourth quarter before Saucier scored with just under six minutes left. Ballard closed the Hawks' scoring with 2:47 remaining in the game.

The Panthers answered back with a pair of goals at the 1:19 mark and with 27 seconds left to play to cut the lead to 9-8, but Hitt won the ensuing faceoff to secure the win.

Sophomore goalie Matt Murphy finished with 13 saves, five ground balls and eight goals allowed. Hitt went 13-for-21 at the faceoff x and scooped up six ground balls.
