Huntingdon pulls away from Centre in second half

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team scored four goals in the first half and four goals in the second half to knock off Centre College 8-3 in the Hawks' home opener on Wednesday.

The Hawks scored the first four goals of the game and carried a 4-0 lead into halftime. After Centre cut the score to 4-2 in the third quarter, Huntingdon pulled ahead with three goals in the span of six minutes.

Leading 4-2 with less than three minutes to play in the third quarter, Miles Stading and Bryce Coates each scored to make it 6-2 entering the fourth quarter. A goal by Adrian Harper made it a five-goal game early in the fourth quarter before Austen Saucier closed the scoring midway through the fourth quarter.

Saucier and Kendrick Ballard each finished with two goals and Stading, Harper, Coates and Jackson Schrampfer each had one goal. Coates also had one assist and two caused turnovers and Harper had five ground balls. Zach Barnhill and Caleb Bohrer each had one assist.

Sam Hitt was 9-for-15 on faceoffs and goalie Matt Murphy recorded 11 saves and allowed three goals in 60 minutes.
