Hawks can’t keep pace with Carthage

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team matched Carthage for the first 25 minutes on Thursday. But the Red Men took the lead for good late in the first half and beat the Hawks 14-9.

Tied 5-5 with five minutes left in the first half, Carthage scored three goals to close the first half and two goals to open the second half as Huntingdon fell behind 10-6. Huntingdon cut the lead to three goals midway through the third quarter, but could not overtake Carthage.

Sam Hitt won 22-of-27 faceoffs, picked up 18 ground balls and scored two goals for the Hawks. Bryce Coates had two goals and one assist, Mac Puller and Austen Saucier each scored two goals and Adrian Harper scored one goal. Puller had four ground balls and Harper had three ground balls.

Goalie Matt Murphy finished with 13 saves, 14 goals allowed and six ground balls in 60 minutes.
