Hawks beat Piedmont to improve to 2-0 in USA South

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's lacrosse team scored the first six goals of the game and knocked off Piedmont 9-3 on Saturday.

Behind two goals each from Adrian Harper and Bryce Coates and one goal from Austen Saucier and one goal from Seth Howe, Huntingdon (5-4, 2-0 USA South) took a 6-0 lead into halftime.  Howe added two more goals in the second half and Saucier scored one more as the Hawks closed out the win.

The victory was Huntingdon's seventh straight in eight meetings with Piedmont. Huntingdon improved to 4-0 against the Lions at Samford Stadium.

Howe finished with three goals and Coates had two goals and three ground balls. Harper had two goals, two caused turnovers and five ground balls and Saucier had two goals and three ground balls.

Zach Barnhill and Cole Foster each had one assist. Sam Hitt was 8-for-10 on faceoffs with five ground balls and Raymond Edwards had three ground balls.

Goalie Matt Murphy had 11 saves, three goals allowed and six ground balls in 60 minutes.
