Carroll's Fourth Quarter Push Too Much For The Hawks

MONTGOMERY,Ala.- Huntingdon men's lacrosse (2-6 overall) fell to the Pioneers of Carroll-Wisconsin (2-4) 11-6 in a home matchup. The Hawks came out of the gates strong, but Caroll put together a strong fourth quarter push to take the victory.

 

How it happened

 

First quarter

  • The Pioneers got on the board first with a goal at the 13:28 mark

  • Gage Kettlewell responded off a Carroll turnover with a goal, evening the score at 1 at the 10:40 mark

  • Less than a minute later, Carroll scored another goal to retake the lead at 2-1

  • Not to be outdone, Kelcey Marston scored off a pass from Gage Kettlewell at the 8:53 mark to even the score at 2

  • The Pioneers scored again at the 1:48 mark to close the quarter with a 3-2 lead.

 

Second quarter

  • Gage Kettlewell scored his second goal of the game at the 12:49 mark to tie the game at 3

  • Continuing the back and forth affair, Kelcey Marston matched a Pioneer goal with his second goal of the game to tie the game at 4 by the 8:31 mark

  • Carroll scored a goal to close the half with a 5-4 lead

 

Third quarter

  • Similar to the first half, the Hawks came out of the locker room  and tied the game with a goal from Brady Moulton at the 7:25 mark

  • Carroll scored the only other goal of the quarter at the 1:18 mark to hold a 6-5 lead heading into the final quarter of play

 

Fourth quarter

  • Carroll opened the quarter on a 3-0 run, but the Hawks continued to battle with Gage Kettlewell scoring his third goal of the day at the 7:40 mark to keep the Hawks within striking distance at 9-6

  • To close the game, Carroll found their stride on both ends of the field, scoring two more goals and shutting out the Hawk offense in the final 6 minutes to capture a 11-6 victory.
