Twenty Hawks earn Academic All-Conference honors

DECATUR, Ga. – The Great South Athletic Conference recently recognized 20 Huntingdon student-athletes in four sports with the release of the GSAC All-Academic teams.

The student-athletes from volleyball, men's and women's soccer and women's cross country excelled in the classroom while representing the Hawks in competition this fall.

"We're very proud of the accomplishments of our student-athletes," Huntingdon athletic director Buzz Phillips said. "These young men and women demonstrate the true meaning of student-athlete."

Eight of Huntingdon's All-Academic selections were from the soccer program. Louis Hines and Chris Blight represented the men's soccer team and Molly Crossno, Kate Garrigan, Bethany Martin, Savannah Barber, Jaden Rountree and Ginger Tyson were the women's selections.

Volleyball and women's cross country each had six All-Academic selections. Receiving recognition in volleyball were Allyson Brislinger, Abby Carter, Alyssa McCurry, Samantha Morris, Mallorie Richardson and Ashlee Walters. The women's cross country selections were Jackie Daniels, Brianna McClure, Caitlin McMahon, Chala Monk, Rachael Phillips and Carly Williamson.

McClure was also recognized as a Sportsmanship Award winner. Drayton Rodgers was the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award for the Huntingdon men's cross country team and Alyssa Eason was the Sportsmanship Award winner for volleyball. The Sportsmanship Award winners for men's and women's soccer have not yet been released by the conference office.
