MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team began preseason practice on Saturday and has been hard at work preparing for the regular season.

"I'm really pleased with how well the new guys have integrated with the returners," head coach Matt Williams said. "Everyone seems energized at most sessions and they're aspiring to try to get a little bit better each time."

One area that Williams is pleased with is the conditioning of his team. He said the returning players have stuck to the standard that was set in the spring and the newcomers are aware of what the team is trying to achieve.

The Hawks return 18 players, including six starters, and have added 18 newcomers this season.

The Hawks will host an Alumni Game on Saturday at 1 p.m. Huntingdon opens the season Aug. 29 in the Jim 'N Nick's/PUMA Labor Day Classic in Birmingham. The Hawks will play Oglethorpe at 5 p.m.
