MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team opened its preseason camp on Aug. 19 and has been working hard for the start of the regular season.

Head coach Matt Cooper is pleased with the start his team has shown, but knows there's plenty of work to do.

"There is always room for improvement, but we are on the right path to our first regular season match against Birmingham-Southern," Cooper said.

Cooper is impressed with the team's attitude so far.

"Our guys have come in hungry to work and they are willing to work. They want that improvement," Cooper said. "The energy has been there in every session. I couldn't be happier."

Defense is a key area that Cooper has been focusing on with his team.

"We're going to continue to focus on defense," Cooper said. "I wanted to get the defensive side of the game down first, but moving forward, we will start to focus on offense and improving both sides of the ball."

The Hawks open the season against Birmingham-Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 1 at Samford Stadium.
