Second-half surge too much for Hawks

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team couldn't find an answer for Maryville in a 7-2 loss on Saturday.

The Hawks (1-5-1, 0-3-0 USA South) trailed 2-0 at halftime before the Scots (6-2, 3-1 USA South) scored four goals in the first seven minutes of the second half to put the game away.

John Robert Lawrence and Brendon Van Emelen scored for the Hawks. Lawrence scored on an assist from Van Emelen in the 48th minute and Van Emelen scored on an assist from Bo Jenkins in the 66th minute.

Van Emelen took two shots on goal and Jenkins, Lawrence, Karter Porter, Chris Hill and Killian Delmore each took one shot on goal.

Keeper Eathan Small had nine saves and seven goals allowed.

Huntingdon travels to Sewanee for a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday.
