Huntingdon downs Berea for first win of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Freshman Kebba Jeng scored three goals and recorded one assist as the Huntingdon men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with an 8-0 win over Berea College on Friday.

Hosting the Mountaineers on Senior Day, the Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by seniors Beau Jenkins and Cam Smith. Jenkins scored the Hawks' first goal on an assist from Jeng in the 12th minute of the game and Smith made it 2-0 on an assist from Dylan Lombardo in the 22nd minute.

Huntingdon carried a 3-0 lead into halftime after freshman T.J. Fleming scored his first collegiate goal on an assist from Guy Evans in the 32nd minute.

Jeng opened the second half with two goals in the first 10 minutes on assists from Hunter Hall and Mac Puller before Tyler Watts scored to make it 6-0 in the 58th minute. Jeng scored his third goal in the 61st minute before Fleming closed the scoring on an assist from Christian Dattilo in the 70th minute.

Quick Fact: Huntingdon senior Cam Smith, a four-year starter on defense, scored his first collegiate goal against Berea … Huntingdon's eight goals are the most in a game since an 8-1 win over Toccoa Falls last season … The last time the Hawks beat a team by an eight-goal margin was an 8-0 win over Atlanta Christian in 2007.
