Hawks come up short in season opener

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team opened play in the Samford Complex with a 2-0 loss to Belhaven on Friday afternoon.

The Hawks (0-1) matched the Blazers (0-1) for most of the game and finished with more shots and shots on goal than Belhaven.

But the Blazers scored two goals in the first half and the Hawks were unable to answer.

                                  

Records: Huntingdon (0-1); Belhaven (1-0)

Notable: Huntingdon outshot Belhaven 15-14 for the game and finished with six shots on goal to the Blazers' five shots on goal.

Quick Fact: The new Samford Complex is the home for Huntingdon soccer and softball. Both sports made their debut in the complex against Belhaven teams. In addition to today's first soccer game, the softball team opened its portion of the complex against the Blazers on Feb. 15 last season.
