HUNTINGDON MEN’S TENNIS WINS 12 MATCHES IN USTA/ITA SOUTH REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team had a good showing in this weekend's USTA/ITA South Region Championships.

The Hawks, who did not compete in the tournament last season, won 12 matches on Friday and Saturday.

Head coach Charlie Lane said he was pleased with the improvement.

"We won more matches this year than we've ever won in this tournament," Lane said. "The last time we were in this tournament, we didn't win a single match. This was a good experience for our guys. For three of our players, this was their first collegiate competition. We have a young team, but we held our own and we won some good matches."

Lane was pleased that all of his players won their first round matches. Freshman Lee Powell reached the semifinals of the South draw and Sean Jackson and Dylan Carr each reached the consolation finals of their draws.

Tyler Creamer reached the Round of 16 in his draw and won one match in the consolation bracket.

Larry Pritchett and Zac Baldwin both won their first-round matches.
