Huntingdon men’s tennis advances to GSAC tournament finals
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team opened the Great South Athletic Conference tournament with a 5-0 win over LaGrange on Saturday.
Huntingdon swept all three doubles matches and picked up two singles wins to end the semifinal match. In the GSAC tournament, once a team clinches the match, the remaining individual matches are halted.
Huntingdon will play Piedmont for the GSAC title at noon on Sunday at the University of Tennessee.
This is the fifth straight year the Hawks (11-6) have advance to the tournament championship match. Piedmont is the defending GSAC tournament champion.
Huntingdon's doubles teams of Sean Jackson-Zac Baldwin (No. 1), Tyler Creamer-Lee Howell (No. 2) and Larry Pritchett-Tyler Chaffee (No. 3) gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead after doubles. Huntingdon picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win from Pritchett at No. 5 singles and sealed the match with Chaffee's 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
