Huntingdon men’s tennis opens season with two wins
JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, knocking off Millsaps 6-3 and Tougaloo 9-0.
"Beating Millsaps for the first time since I've been here is a nice way to start the season," said Charlie Lane, who is beginning his eighth season as the Huntingdon men's coach. "We played well in spots today, but we've still got some work to do. We can play better than we played today, but 2-0 is a nice start."
Four Huntingdon players picked up singles wins in both matches. Bobby Foroughian won twice at No. 1 singles. Zac Baldwin won at No. 3 singles against Millsaps and No. 2 singles against Tougaloo.
Tyler Creamer won at No. 5 singles against Millsaps and No. 3 singles against Tougaloo and Justin McQueen won at No. 6 singles against Millsaps and No. 4 singles against Tougaloo.
Tyler Chaffee (No. 5) and Eric Busch (No. 6) won singles matches against Tougaloo.
In doubles, the teams of Foroughian-Baldwin (No. 1) and Creamer-Chaffee (No. 3) won in both matches. The No. 2 team of Sebastian Riveros-Meyer Schwartzberg won against Tougaloo.
Huntingdon returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Point University.
