Huntingdon men’s tennis advances to USA South semifinals
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team opened the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament with a 9-0 win over Greensboro on Friday.
It was the Hawks' second 9-0 win over the Pride this season and the eighth 9-0 win in 16 matches this season.
Second-seeded (13-3) Huntingdon will play third-seeded Methodist (18-6) in the semifinals on Saturday at 1 p.m. This will be the first meeting of the season for the two teams. The scheduled regular-season match was rained out and unable to be made up.
The doubles teams of Bobby Foroughian-Zac Baldwin (No. 1), Sebastian Riveros Florez-Meyer Schwartzberg (No. 2) and Tyler Creamer-Trey Pirtle (No. 3) each won to give Huntingdon an early 3-0 lead on Friday.
Florez (No. 2) won the Hawks' first singles match before Foroughian clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles. Baldwin (No. 3), Schwartzberg (No. 4), Creamer (No. 5) and Justin McQueen (No. 6) won Huntingdon's final four singles matches.
