Men’s tennis competes on Day 2 of John McWilliams Fall Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Huntingdon mens tennis team showed mix results during the second day of the 2014 John McWilliams Fall Invitational at Lagoon Park on Saturday.
Competition was halted due to weather with a few matches left on the court. Those matches will be completed on Sunday.
Huntingdon's John Jones (No. 6) claimed two victories in singles play on Saturday. Jones defeated Alonso Triviso (Point University) in straight sets, and then defeated Henry Crosby (Birmingham Southern College) in straight sets in the second round.
In the consolation round, Justin McQueen defeated teammate Bailey Burns, while Meyer Schwartzberg lost to Daniel Blanchard of Point. Ben Marler defeated Zach Thyner (LaGrange) but then lost to George Chunn (BSC) in the second round.
The Hawks were able to win all of their first round matches in doubles play. The No. 6 team of Marler-Jones won in the second round, while McQueen-Bailey (No. 4) lost in the second round. Foroughian-Baldwin (No. 1), Eric Busch-Trey Pirtle (No. 2), Tyler Chaffee-Triplett (No. 3) will complete second round play on Sunday.
Birmingham Southern leads the tournament with 34 points while Huntingdon fell to second with 25 points. Millsaps College sits in third with 15 points and Point University has 14 points. LaGrange College is fifth with zero points.
The tournament continues on Sunday at 9 a.m. at Lagoon Park.
