Men’s tennis picks up first two wins of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Rust College 9-0 and Tuskegee University 9-0.

In the first match against Rust, Huntingdon (2-3) didn't lose a game in singles play and only dropped one game in doubles. No. 3 singles player Meyer Schwartzberg didn't lose a point in his singles match.

In the second match of the day versus Tuskegee, Huntingdon won five singles matches in straight sets.

Schwartzberg finished the day 2-0 at No. 3 singles. Bobby Foroughian (No. 1), Sebastian Riveros Florez (No. 2) and Zac Baldwin (No. 4) were also 2-0. Aaron Triplett won at No. 5 singles against Rust and No. 6 against Tuskegee. Trey Pirtle won by forfeit against Rust and won at No. 5 singles against Tuskegee.

In doubles, the teams of Foroughian-Baldwin (No. 1), Schwartzberg-Florez (No. 2) and Pirtle-Tyler Chaffee (No. 3) picked up wins against Tuskegee.

Against Rust, Justin McQueen and Ben Marler won at No. 1 doubles and Eric Busch and Bailey Burns won at No. 2 doubles. Pirtle and Chaffee won by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.

Huntingdon returns to action on Sunday with its fourth match in three days. The Hawks host Spring Hill at 1 pm.
