Burns wins deciding match for Hawks in win over Covenant

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team defeated Covenant College 5-4 on Saturday and clinched a spot in the USA South Athletic Conference tournament.

Bailey Burns (No. 6) won the final singles match of the day, 6-2 6-3, to clinch the win for Huntingdon (9-4, 6-3 USA South). 

Aaron Triplett (No. 3), Justin McQueen (No. 4) and Ben Marler (No. 5) won in straight sets in singles play. Trey Pirtle (No. 2) lost in three sets.

In doubles, the team of Triplett-McQueen (No. 2) won 8-1.

The Hawks clinched a spot in the conference tournament with the win. Seeding for the tournament has not been determined yet.

Huntingdon will play at Piedmont on Sunday at 10 a.m.
