Hawks beat Tuskegee for third straight win

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's tennis team beat Division II Tuskegee University 5-2 on Wednesday.

Due to a new NCAA scoring format for Division II programs this season, the scoring is handled differently than in Division III. In Division III, a team receives a point for each victory in doubles. In Division II, one point is awarded to the team that wins two or more of the doubles matches.

Per NCAA rules, when teams from different divisions compete, the rules of the home team's division are applied.

Huntingdon won four singles matches and two doubles matches to earn its third straight team win.

Mark Melchor (No. 1), Anjala Chandrasoma (No. 3), Clint Robinson (No. 4) and Kevaughnte Merrion (No. 5) won in singles. In doubles, the No. 1 team of Carson Sands-Chandrasoma won 6-1 and the No. 2 team of Melchor-Robinson won 6-2.

Records: Huntingdon (4-1); Tuskegee (1-4)

Coming Up: Huntingdon plays at Covenant on Saturday.
