Ostrander and Payne Named to the NFCA All-Region Team

STARKVILLE, Miss. --- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced their Division III All-Region softball teams last week with Huntingdon College's junior Aleah Payne and freshman Holly Ostrander on the list. In their first season with the Lady Hawks, Ostrander and Payne helped Huntingdon reach the Great South Athletic Conference championship game and a 26-16 record.

Payne, native of Opelika, received NFCA Second Team All-Region honors following her first season at Huntingdon after transferring from Jefferson Davis Community College. Payne made an immediate impact on Huntingdon's softball team starting all 42 games, registering a team-high batting average of .455, 56 hits, 48 runs and six home-runs while stealing 39 bases ranked ninth in Division III with an average of .93 stolen bases per game. During her two seasons at Jefferson Davis, Payne led the Lady Warhawks with 117 hits, 80 RBI's and a career batting average of .418.

A native of Clearwater, Florida, Ostrander capped off her first collegiate season with the NFCA Third Team All-Region award after pacing the Lady Hawks with 36 RBI's and 11 doubles. Ostrander posted a .388 batting average in 37 games while recording 40 hits and two home-runs in her first season at Huntingdon.
