Giordana and Greene Claim Softball Weekly Honors

DECATUR,Ga.- Things are heating up as the Great South Athletic Conference softball teams head into play during the month of March. The GSAC is pleased to announce this week's Pitcher and Player of the Week honorees in Bree Giordana from Huntingdon and Avi Greene of Agnes Scott. This is the second straight week Giordana claims the award and first this season for Greene.

Having another solid week for the Lady Hawks, Giordana picked up two wins and a no decision in three appearances this week and totaled nine strikeouts, five walks, 14 hits and three runs in 15 1/3 innings. She had four strikeouts, three walks, one run, five hits in seven innings in a 2-1 win over Spring Hill and five strikeouts, two walks, two runs and five hits in six innings of an 11-2 win over Transylvania.

Hosting the 1st Annual Lauren Giddings Classic in Decatur, Ga. in honor of a fallen teammate, Greene had an outstanding weekend for the Scotties. The team captain went 6-for-12 over the four game weekend including 1 triple, 2 doubles, 3 singles - she had 4 RBI's and scored 3 runs. She received an All-Tournament Award for the tournament as well. She had 9 putouts over the weekend at second base and had zero errors.

Huntingdon faces off with GSAC foe Covenant on March 8 before hittign the road to Roanoke, Va. for the Roanoke Valley Softball Bash March 10-11. For more information on the Lady Hawks, visithuntingdonhawks.com
