Payne and Folds Earn Weekly Softball Honors

DECATUR, Ga.- Entering the final month of the softball season, the Great South Athletic Conference is pleased to announce Kayla Folds of LaGrange and Aleah Payne of Huntingdon as this week's softball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively. This is the first time this season for Folds and the second for Payne.

Having an impressive week for the Panther, Folds went 3-0 in three starts with three complete games and three shutouts. In 19 innings, she allowed 11 hits, did not walk a batter and struck out 24. She had a 1-hitter against Wesleyan and a 2-hitter against Berry. She is currently second in the conference in strikeout with 91 over 104 innings of work.

Helping Huntingdon remain perfect in conference play, Payne batted .813 (13-for-16) with 16 RBI, 14 runs, a home run, five triples, four doubles and nine stolen bases in four GSAC victories last week. Payne was 4-for-7 with six RBIs, six runs and a three-run homer in a doubleheader sweep of Spelman on Thursday. On Sunday, in a doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan, Payne was 9-for-9 with 10 RBIs, eight runs, five triples, two doubles and five stolen bases.
