Huntingdon softball stumbles against Berry

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team closed out the regular season with a pair of losses to Berry on Sunday. The Lady Hawks lost 5-0 in the first game and 4-3 in eight innings in the second game.

In Game 2, Huntingdon (25-13) scored two runs in the first inning before Berry tied the game in the fourth. Tied after seven innings, Berry took a 4-2 lead in the top of the eighth. Gabby Alcantar singled to score Melissa McClure and make it a one-run game, but the Lady Hawks couldn't complete the comeback.

In the first inning, Alcantar scored Huntingdon's first run of the game and Jenna Rimensnyder scored on a Bree Giordana sacrifice to make it 2-0.

Alcantar finished with three of the Lady Hawks' five hits in the doubleheader. McClure (10-6) took the loss in Game 1 and Giordana (14-7) took the loss in Game 2.

Huntingdon returns to action in the Great South Athletic Conference tournament at Maryville.
