Lady Hawks open softball season with pair of 1-0 losses

MOBILE, Ala. – Pitchers Melissa McClure and Brooke Meadows held Spring Hill to one run in each game, but Huntingdon fell 1-0 and 1-0 in its first two games of the season.

McClure (0-1) struck out four and scattered five hits in Game 1 and Meadows (0-1) struck out nine, walked four and allowed three hits in Game 2.

Spring Hill's Caroline Sagrera threw a no-hitter and struck out 15 in Game 1. Spring Hill pushed the winning run across in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Hawks finished with three hits in Game 2. Holly Ostrander was 2-for-3 and Ashlee Zachmeyer was 1-for-3. The Badgers scored in the bottom of the fifth to win the second game.

Huntingdon returns to action in the Methodist tournament. The Lady Hawks are scheduled to play East Mennonite and Methodist on Friday and Berry and Salisbury on Saturday.
