Softball opens season with sweep of Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Junior Jessica Swindle drove in the winning run with two outs in the seventh inning of Game 2 to help the Huntingdon softball team complete a sweep of Talladega College on Tuesday.

Huntingdon (2-0) took the first game 8-1 and won the second game 6-5.

Swindle's hit to center field brought in senior Heather McGuirk for the winning run.

Freshman Raina Lanier pitched a complete game to pick up the win in Game 2. Senior Katy Messick pitched a complete game to earn the win in Game 1.

Freshman Lindsey Selph had a home run in the first game. Complete stats from the doubleheader were not available Tuesday night.

Huntingdon travels to Memphis on Feb. 21 and will play Case Western Reserve and Rhodes. The game with Case Western Reserve is set for 10 a.m. with the Rhodes game to follow at noon.
