Lady Hawks fall to Millsaps and Webster

JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon softball team dropped two games on Saturday at Millsaps. The Lady Hawks fell to Millsaps 5-1 and lost to Webster 12-4 in five innings.

In Game 1, Millsaps (6-0) took an early 2-0 lead and added three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win. Freshman Lindsey Selph accounted for Huntingdon's only run with a solo home run in the fifth inning. It was her second home run of the season.

Katy Messick (2-1) took the loss, striking out seven, walking three and allowing eight hits in six innings.

Huntingdon (3-3) fell behind 12-0 against Webster (1-1) before scoring four runs in the fifth inning. Heather McGuirk had two hits and two RBIs and Jessica Swindle had two hits and a run. Gabby Alcantar had a RBI and a run, Ashley Johnson drove in one run and Daisha Henderson and Jesse Dunn each scored one run.

Raina Lanier (1-1) took the loss.

Huntingdon returns to action against Millsaps and Webster on Sunday. Huntingdon is scheduled to play Webster at 9 a.m. and Millsaps at 1 p.m.
