Harden earns USA South Athlete of the Week honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon softball infielder Katrina Harden was named one of the USA South Athletes of the Week on Monday.

The Prattville, Ala., native was named USA South Softball Rookie of the Week for her performance in Saturday's doubleheader against Maryville.

Harden batted .667 (4-for-6) with an .833 slugging percentage, scored three runs and had two stolen bases as the Lady Hawks split with Maryville on Saturday.

In Game 1, Harden was a 3-for-3, with a double, three runs and one stolen base as Huntingdon won 11-4. In Game 2, she was 1-for-3 and stole one base as the Lady Hawks fell 10-3.

Baseball Player of the Week
Colin Ford, Methodist - The sophomore infielder from Hope Mills, North Carolina went a combined 6-for-13 (.462), seven RBI, four runs scored, one home run, two walks and one stolen base as the Monarchs posted a 3-1 record last week. In a 5-0 loss to Virginia Wesleyan, Ford was 1-for-2 with one walk. In a three-game sweep of USA South foe Greensboro, Ford was a combined 5-for-11 with seven RBI, four runs scored, one home run, one walk and one stolen base. Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Andrew Weekley, LaGrange - The junior from Flowery Branch, Georgia appeared in two games, one start, with a 1-0 record and a 0/75 ERA last week on the mound for the Panthers versus USA South competition. He tossed a total of 12 innings, allowing five runs, only one of which was earned, on eight hits with two walks and ten strikeouts. In a 15-5 loss to Piedmont, Weekley came on in relief to pitch three innings and allow five runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits with one walk and three strikeouts. In his first career start, a 7-0 victory over Huntingdon, Weekley tossed a complete-game, three-hit, shutout with one walk and seven strikeouts. Baseball Rookie of the Week
Brady Ballstadt, Piedmont - The freshman outfielder from Suwanee, Georgia went a combined 7-for-17 (.412) with seven runs scored, four RBI, one double, one home run, two walks and one stolen base as the Lions posted a 5-0 record last week. In a 15-5 win over LaGrange, Ballstadt was 1-for-4 with one run scored, one run batted in and one walk. In a 32-4 win over Emory & Henry, Ballstadt was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI and one double. In a 3-1 victory over nationally-ranked Marietta, Ballstadt was 1-for-3 with one run scored. In a 6-4 win over Adrian, Ballstadt was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, one batted in, one home run and one stolen base. Finally, in a 7-6 victory over nationally-ranked Birmingham Southern, Ballstadt was hitless with one walk. Also Nominated: None.

Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Drew Bradley, Covenant - The Lithia, Florida freshman started and earned a no-decision in a 7-4 loss to USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan in his only appearance last week for the Scots. Bradley tossed the first 5.1 innings, allowing two runs, only one of which was earned, on four hits with zero walks and three strikeouts. Bradley left the game with a lead his team was unable to hold. Also Nominated: Max Bening, Piedmont.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Lacrosse Player of the Week
Carlee Joseph, Meredith - The Hollywood, Maryland sophomore attack totaled 23 points on 18 goals and five assists with 13 ground balls, ten draw controls and five caused turnovers in a 4-0 week for the Avenging Angels. In a 27-17 victory over Roanoke, Joseph scored four goals with two assists, two ground balls, one draw control and one caused turnover. In a 17-13 win over Oneonta State, Joseph totaled four goals with two draw controls and two ground balls. In a 21-12 victory over USA South foe Greensboro, Joseph tallied five goals and three assists with four draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Finally, in a 15-12 victory over USA South rival Piedmont, Joseph notched five goals with six ground balls, three draw controls and one caused turnover. Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Alyssa Codispoti, Meredith - The Raleigh, North Carolina junior defender totaled eight draw controls, eight ground balls and one draw control, as well as, two points on one goal and one assist as the Avenging Angels. In a 27-17 victory over Roanoke, Codispoti scored one goal with three caused turnovers and two ground balls. In a 17-13 win over Oneonta State, Codispoti totaled two ground balls and one caused turnover. In a 21-12 victory over USA South foe Greensboro, Codispoti tallied one assist, two caused turnovers and one ground ball. Finally, in a 15-12 victory over USA South rival Piedmont, Codispoti notched three ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control. Also Nominated: Jen Price, Huntingdon.

Julie Capretti, Meredith - The Ashburn, Virginia freshman attack tallied 17 points on nine goals and eight assists with two ground balls and one draw control in a 4-0 week for the Avenging Angels. In a 27-17 victory over Roanoke, Capretti scored four goals with six assists, one ground ball and one caused turnover. In a 17-13 win over Oneonta State, Capretti totaled three shots on goal. In a 21-12 victory over USA South foe Greensboro, Capretti tallied two goals and two assists. Rachel Taylor, Maryville - The sophomore first baseman from Palm Harbor, Florida went a combined 5-for-8 (.625) with a 1.125 slugging percentage, eight RBI, two runs scored and four doubles as the Scots split a doubleheader with USA South rival Huntingdon in the team's only contests last week. In the second game of the doubleheader, a 10-3 victory, Taylor was 3-for-5 with five RBI, one run scored and three doubles. Softball Pitcher of the Week
Morgan Farmer, William Peace - The Wilson, North Carolina senior tossed a no-hitter and collected a save in a doubleheader sweep of Greensboro in her only appearances on the mound for the Pacers last week. In a 9-0, five-inning, game one victory, Farmer did not allow a hit with four walks and eight strikeouts. In a 10-6 game two win, Farmer came on in relief to pitch a perfect final inning with one strikeout and secure the save. Also Nominated: Mary Beth Smith, Averett; Sarah Walker, Piedmont.

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Taylor Napier, Ferrum - The senior from Hanover, Virginia earned a 1-1 record at both the number-four singles position and the number-one doubles spot last week for the Panthers versus USA South competition. Napier earned his singles victory over an opponent from Covenant while he teamed with Connor Moncure to again earn a win over Covenant in doubles. Also Nominated: Oliver Lindqvist, Averett; R.J. Clement, Methodist.

Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Oliver Lindqvist, Averett - The freshman from Stockholm, Sweden earned a victory at both singles and doubles over opponents from Guilford in the team's only match last week. In doubles, Lindqvist teamed with James Wright to collect the win. Also Nominated: None.

Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Annie DeLuca, Covenant - The sophomore from Alpharetta, Georgia earned a 1-0 singles record and a 2-0 doubles mark both at the number-one positions last week for the Scots versus USA South competition. In singles, DeLuca's victory came versus Ferrum. In doubles, she teamed with Aly Hall to collect the wins over opponents from Mary Baldwin and Ferrum. Heidi Sarkkinen, Averett - The freshman from Oulu, Finland earned a victory at both singles and doubles over opponents from Guilford in the team's only match last week. FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Huntingdon softball infielder Katrina Harden was named one of the USA South Athletes of the Week on Monday.

The Prattville, Ala., native was named USA South Softball Rookie of the Week for her performance in Saturday's doubleheader against Maryville.

Harden batted .667 (4-for-6) with an .833 slugging percentage, scored three runs and had two stolen bases as the Lady Hawks split with Maryville on Saturday.
