ROME, Ga. – The Huntingdon softball team lost a doubleheader to ninth-ranked Berry College on Tuesday.
The Lady Hawks fell 12-3 in five innings in the first game and lost 7-0 in Game 2.
In Game 1, an RBI single by Blake Rowland gave Huntingdon (12-12) an early lead. Following a two-run home run by Lindsey Selph in the top of the fourth, the Lady Hawks trailed 4-3.
But Berry (20-4) scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.
Jessica Swindle and Brandi Blair each scored one run in the game. Raina Lanier (6-6) took the loss.
Berry scored six runs in the first three innings to take control in Game 2.
Kerri Reed (2-4) took the loss in Game 2. Daisha Henderson and Chelsea Messer accounted for Huntingdon's two hits.
Huntingdon (6-2 USA South) returns to action in a doubleheader at Averett (14-11, 6-2 USA South) on Friday. Game 1 is set for 1 p.m. Huntingdon and Averett are tied for second in the USA South Athletic Conference standings.
