Belhaven too much for Lady Hawks

JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Belhaven on Tuesday.

Huntingdon lost 8-2 in Game 1 and fell 12-0 in five innings in Game 2.

Samara Miller recorded four of Huntingdon's 10 hits in the doubleheader.

In Game 1, The Lady Hawks (0-8) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning after Raina Lanier hit a two-run single, scoring Lindsey Selph and Brandi Blair. The Blazers answered with one run in the bottom of the first and four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Leading 5-2, Belhaven hit a three-run homerun in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.

Lanier (0-4) took the loss in Game 1.

In Game 2, the Lady Hawks fell behind early and were unable to recover. Belhaven (2-7) scored three runs in the first inning, six in the second and three in the third.

Selph (0-2) took the loss in 1 1/3 innings pitched.

Huntingdon plays at Millsaps on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
