Lady Hawks swept by Judson

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Judson College on Thursday.

The Lady Hawks fell 5-4 in eight innings in the first game and lost 5-3 in Game 2.

Lindsey Selph led Huntingdon (9-19) with four hits, a home run, an RBI and two runs in the two games. Maggie Porter had three hits, an RBI and two runs and Brandi Blair had three hits and a run.

In Game 1, trailing 3-1 in the fifth inning, freshman MacKenzie Smelley singled in two runs to tie the game. In extra innings, Judson (16-14) scored two runs in the top of the eighth. Huntingdon answered with a run by Selph on a sacrifice fly by Amber Wade before a ground out ended the game.

Smelley was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run in the game and Wade had two RBIs. Porter and Blair were each 2-for-4 with a run and Selph scored once.

Raina Lanier (2-10) took the loss in eight innings.

In Game 2, Huntingdon scored three runs in the final two innings to make it a two-run game. Selph hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to cut Judson's lead to 4-1. After Judson made it 5-1 in the top of the seventh, Porter drove in Wade with a triple and then scored on an error.

Madison Hunt (5-2) took the loss in four innings.

Huntingdon plays at Meredith on Saturday in a conference doubleheader.
